A Face Fit Test ensures that Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) fits an individual’s face securely and will therefore protect the wearer from airborne hazards.
Supplied RPE cannot protect its wearer from airborne hazards if it leaks. Leaks are nearly always linked to poor fit. People come in all shapes and sizes, therefore one size, or type, of RPE will not be suitable for everyone. Face Fit Testing will check and ensure the correct facepiece is selected for each individual wearer.
Atlas Safety Management can visit your site or premises to conduct Face Fit Testing. We recommend Face Fit Testing is conducted regularly, at least once every two years, or once a year for those working with asbestos, and when:
- the wearer has lost or gained weight
- a new facepiece is being utilised
- the wearer has undertaken extensive dental work
